National disability cards may pose challenges for people with disabilities when travelling within the EU, as the cards are often not recognised in other EU countries. This creates obstacles for individuals with disabilities in their access to targeted services
The EU disability card strives to address this challenge by ensuring the recognition of the rights of people with disabilities across Europe. In addition to this, the EU Parking Card is also planned to be introduced, establishing consistent rules throughout the EU and replacing national parking cards.
The European Commission put forth this proposal on September 6th, 2023, and it is anticipated to take approximately two and a half years for implementation.
